The Alorian Public Union (PrCoa) propose to adjust the government's income tax policy to better address the economic situation of the Democratic Republic of Aloria. The Alorian Public Union (PrCoa) propose to adjust the government's income tax policy to better address the economic situation of the Democratic Republic of Aloria. APU feels that 80 billion in income taxes is enough, and that anything more needed in revenues can be brought in by more progressive consumption taxes. Eliminates the two highest margins (people here obviously still pay taxes, but only the perecent designated above the two margins remaining). Relaces it with a 2% increase in the luxury sales tax.

MessageThis is putting way too much weight on two of our lowest tax brackets and put us at a deficit, especially in the light of a recent suggestion to increase the federal budget. Though we highly appreciate the sentiment coming from the APU we have to kindly disagree with this bill.

MessageThe advantage of a luxury sales tax is that it is in some sense voluntary--if it really applies to luxuries, you don't have to pay it unless you choose to buy luxuries. The disadvantage of any sales tax is that it is inherently regressive, since lesser-income earners must pay a larger portion of their income for the tax compared to higher-income earners.

We believe in a balance between sales and income taxes, with the greater portion of revenue coming from progressive income taxes. We think that balance is about right under the current system. We think this proposal shifts too much weight over to the luxury sales tax, which imposes too much of a burden on lesser-income earners in favor of higher-income earners.

MessageWe've fiddled with a lot of different tax structures. When it comes down to it, we like the current tax system. If anything, we'd favor reducing the sales tax in exchange for a slight increase in the income tax.

If you think of an Alorik as roughly 1/10th the value of a dollar (not a perfect exchange, but just so we have something to work with), that means nobody pays any income taxes at all until about $100,000/year. That's not a bad system.

MessageWe agree with raising the sales tax on luxury goods but 15,000 is too low a top bracket
