Bill: Financial Adjustment Act - Part B: Expenditure

Details

Submitted by[?]: Free Democratic Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill proposes to change the allocation of funds in the budget. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline.

Voting deadline: July 2572

Description[?]:

This Bill proposes to make a few moderate adjustments to the budget in order to take advantage of the current surplus and acknowledge changes in both the domestic and international political situation. On the expenditure side it will reduce defence spending to the recommended level of the Ministry of Finance and reduce the level of Head of Government funding given the decentralised nature of the Alorian government.

In terms of revenue, this Bill aims to lower taxation for the poorest, while at the same time ensuring a steady flow of money. The level of sales tax is reduced on non-essential items to act as a further stimulator to the economy, while a very low corporation tax is re-introduced in order to balance the books.

MessageExcellent argument for a modest restructuring of Alorian budget policy.

We don't object at all to this end of your proposal. The cuts you've proposed here are sensible. The Defense Ministry has long held that 14 billion is a sound figure for military spending. And while we believe current Head of Government expenditures are sensible, we do acknowledge that there's room to tighten budget some. We'll all just have to make due with smaller staffs and fewer travel junkets.

We do have some concerns about your tax proposals. We'll discuss those in that thread.
