Bill: Budget proposal of November 2572
Details
Submitted by[?]: Radical Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This bill proposes to change the allocation of funds in the budget. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline.
Voting deadline: December 2573
Description[?]:
A general retrenchment of all government expenditure, combined with a general tax cut, to empower the consumer and curtail unnecessary government expenditure while ensuring a safe budget for those areas of state responsibility to be manned properly. Like my predecessor as Finance Minister, I believe that Trade and Industry and Food and Agriculture should be weened off the government's teet and survive without subsidies in a free market economy. Unlike my predecessor, I believe the private sector can maintain the concerns of both Transport and Infrastructure and Environment and Tourism. My previous term as Finance Minister was marked by moderation and caution, but now I vote for a libertarian economy in Telamon. Fieren Goldmark Finance Minister |

Message | We are uncomfortable with the severe budget cut to education, as we believe providing quality education is essential in order for a free market economy to excel. We would feel more comfortable if it was not afforded such a sharp cut, but otherwise will support this budget proposal. James Lott Chairman Democratic Capitalist Delegation |

Message | The budget cut has mostly come from Culture and not Education; we agree a quality education service must be provided, but Culture is more of a specialist interest outside the responsibility of government. Fieren Goldmark Finance Minister |

Random quote: "No one today can afford to be innocent, or indulge himself in ignorance of contemporary governments, politics and social orders. The national polities of the modern world maintain their existence by deliberately fostered craving and fear: monstrous protection rackets. The 'free world' has become economically dependent on a fantastic system of stimulation of greed which cannot be fulfilled, sexual desire which cannot be satiated and hatred which has no outlet except against oneself, the persons one is supposed to love, or the revolutionary aspirations of pitiful, poverty-stricken marginal societies like Cuba or Vietnam. The conditions of the Cold War have turned all modern societies - communist included - into vicious distorters of man's true potential." - Gary Snyder |
