| A general retrenchment of all government expenditure, combined with a general tax cut, to empower the consumer and curtail unnecessary government expenditure while ensuring a safe budget for those areas of state responsibility to be manned properly. Like my predecessor as Finance Minister, I believe that Trade and Industry and Food and Agriculture should be weened off the government's teet and survive without subsidies in a free market economy. Unlike my predecessor, I believe the private sector can maintain the concerns of both Transport and Infrastructure and Environment and Tourism.
