Bill: Arbeit macht frei!

Details

Submitted by[?]: Cooperative Commonwealth Federation

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: June 2114

Description[?]:

In keeping with the pro-crime bill requiring forced labour in prisons, this bill would require those convicted of non-violent crimes against property to do forced labour. A new tax will be created to cover the additional cost of these chain gangs, which will parade merrily through the countryside, singing as they are whipped to greater and greater frenzies to the tune of the latest hit song by Queen.

MessageI would have supported either option other than the voluntary work/wage option. I prefer to deny anybody a free ride, especially if the justification is that they have committed a crime.

Responsibility cannot be avoided.

MessageYeah, this bill is obviously one of extremely heavy sarcasm. The Greens remain strongly opposed to slavery.

We now move the bill, stripped of its proposal, to the vote. We will, of course, vote against it as an insane measure -- even more insane than the insane law just passed, in fact, although entirely in keepign with the spirit of that law. A more serious bill on prisons follows shortly.

Random fact: It is the collective responsibility of the players in a nation to ensure all currently binding RP laws are clearly outlined in an OOC reference bill in the "Bills under debate" section of the nation page. Confusion should not be created by displaying only some of the current RP laws or displaying RP laws which are no longer current.
