Bill: Free Market Power Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Humanic Republicanist Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: June 2578

Description[?]:

A truly free market is imperative to a just and prosperous society. Allowing more than one company to build the nations power grid will protect us from the possibility of one flaw taking down every region of Telamons electricity.

This bill will be sent for a vote in three months, unless more time is needed for debate.

MessageElectricity is a essential service that the people of Telamon need, we do not believe it should be run on a profit making basis.

MessageThe current situation gives power to one private company. One that can charge any price it wants for power and is protected by the government from competition that would force prices to go lower. Either the power prices must be controlled by the government, or by the free market.

MessageWe would prefer Nationalisation.

As for this proposal, it will just result in companies having different prices in different areas. This bill does not allow for more than one business to compete in any one area/grid of the market.

MessageWe also prefer nationalization of the power grid, but we would rather have multiple private companies maintain the grid than hand a monopoly to a corporation.
