Bill: Death Penalty Restoration Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Sojuz Ljudej (People's Union)

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: September 2114

Description[?]:

#1 - The Death Penalty in the Republic of Trigunia shall be legalized

The most evil murderers should be executed by the state. Terrorists and Traitors recieving prison for life doesn't go far enough. They should be executed for their crimes.

#2 - The extradition of citizens to nations with the Death Penalty shall be allowed

Since this bill legalizes the death penalty in our republic, we should extradite people to other nations with the death sentence. It only makes sense to extradite if we have the same sentence.

MessageWe are strongly opposed to this proposal for the reasons expressed in the bill which abolished the death penalty: http://82.238.75.178:8085/particracy/main/viewbill.php?billid=16104

MessageI think it's reasonable to have the death sentence for use against terrorists and traitors. I think that you are confusing that standard with a more casual stance on the Death Penalty.

Do you feel there is any situation with justifies the Death Penalty?

MessageNo. And it has nothing to do with the nature of the crime, it has to do with the fact that you cannot be sure the person is guilty.

MessageFrom the last debate, the LP was asking people to prove negatives (Prove you won't execute an innocent person). Essentially the LP asks for 100% accuracy or nothing at all. I'm not asking for widespread death sentences, just death sentences for traitors and terrorists.

If a terrorist group were convicted of striking this nation like they struck Aloria and Kanjor, I would want the option of exeuction for the leaders of that group. That's not unreasonable.

MessageI'm not asking you to prove that you WON'T execute an innocent person, I'm asking you whether you can honestly claim that no-one EVER HAS EXECUTED an innocent person. If you can guarantee that only the guilty will be killed, then I will entertain your proposal, but you know as well as I do that you can't be certain that only guilty people will be killed. You may be happy to execute the occasional innocent, but we will never accept it.
