Bill: Alcohol Policy Ammendment Act, 2579

Details

Submitted by[?]: Federal Rutanian Libertarian Union

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: August 2580

Description[?]:

We understand the desire to restrict the sale of alcohol to adults (which we do in fact disagree with), but we don't see why it should not be the parental perogative to provide their children alcohol if they believe them to be of a responsible age. Thus, we propose that it may be available only to adults and therefore, parents may decide from there. We do this in recognition of the fact that the nation (probably) does spend much money on prosecuting underaged people breaking this law.

MessageWe think that, if parents allow consuming of alcohol to kids, which are under age, it's just unresponsible and bad for children's health.
Regarding this law, we think it's an unnecessary over- regulation, and that it will hurt some small sale bussinesses. Therefore we will not support this law.

MessageDo you realise that we're most definitely legalising behaviour that is rampant within our society? We cannot afford to wast law enforcement resources on such petty and victimless crimes. We believe that parents do in fact know and would like to teach their children about moderation. Fact is, the current law is over-regulation and resource stretching, what we propose it far better and allows for much more flexibility - especially considering we won't stop underage drinking and thus they might as well do it with the approval and supervision of their parents, instead of under the eyes of law enforcement.

MessageHow would you control those licensed sale outlets? You need police or inspectorate for that. Also, that would ruin some small sales that saled alcohol, but won't get licensed in the future. Also, it would spread the black market of alcohol, because the number of shops with alcohol will decrease. It will also sky- rocket alcohol prices, which will also increase danger from illegal alcohol and alcohol from black market. * Therefore, we think that proposed law is resource stretching and unnecessary.

MessageWith the proposed law, we couldn't make our own beer and sell it on the block straight out the trunk!!! In our opinion, this law(proposed and current) has nothing to do with the kids, just where you buy and consume alcohol...thats the only difference.
