Bill: CPL Firearms Bill

Details

Submitted by[?]: Conservative Liberal Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: October 2115

Description[?]:

We propose making the availability of firearms easier.

Only a corrupt and authoritarian government should fear arming its citizens.

Regulations will be reduced drastically. An age limit WILL be enforced, and citizens with a CRIMINAL conviction will be refused access to firearms.

MessageAs unlikely as it may seem, the AAP believes the Conservatives may be trying to introduce TOO MUCH freedom to the citizens of Likatonia. The AAP sees risk in 'free' sale of arms... since 'free' sale implies no checking... and that MIGHT mean selling weapons to insurgents masquerading as citizens.

MessageWe shall take this into consideration, by suggesting that the police will be more heavily armed, and the military will be able to back up the civil powers with greater ease.

Remember that the current government is very Liberal indeed, herefore we do not see how abuse could occur.

MessageWe agree with the AAP. Gun control has ever been the LPE's maverick issue, where we believe in limiting freedom as much as possible, unlike our usual policies. This is an unacceptable suggestion - civilian owned guns do enough accidental damage as it is.

MessageWe wish to see our citizens armed to the teeth, only then can the government be held to account properly.

MessageWe of the RLP feel that there need to be some restriction beyond age to the purchase of firearms. For example, someone with prior convictions on firearms related charges sho8uild not be permitted to purchase them again after serving his or her term.

Therefore, without amendments to prevent this sort of situation, we must regrettfully oppose, much as we approve the concept of an armed citizenery.

We do believe in gun control. Hit what you aim at.

MessageThe AAP cannot endorse the removal of so many safeguards. WHile we support freedom, we support a freedom that protects.
