Message | How would any of those issues be improvements to the current situation? Localisation is complicated, bureaucratic, and unstructured and costs more to operate than centrally funded systems whilst providing no improvements in service but actually risking those services whilst local governments clamour to reduce overheads. We would also point out that we cannot "return" these responsibilities to local government because they have never had these responsibilities. |

Message | It's less bureaucratic because the responsibilities, properly devolved, would be truly accountable to local governments and their needs. |

Message | What a load of absolute tosh. Bureaucratic responsibilities within devolved institutions are inherently more expensive. Rather than an individual operating a combined organisation you now require multiple at each local constituency (or County dependent upon how local the operations are, something not explained in this bill). When one part of the same organisation needs to contact each other, they are now operated separately so they now operate differing bureaucracies. Each level is no more accountable than the current organisational set up but is now more expensive to operate due to additional staffing requirements to operate the many bureaucracies rather than the singular in addition to the decreased cohesiveness of operations which is especially critical in regards emergency services. All this bill does is increase cost whilst decreasing responsibility. |
