Bill: Southern Dovani Security Initiative

Details

Submitted by[?]: Imperial Pluralism Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: September 2594

Description[?]:

Some zealous and excessively enthusiastic Trigunian party decided to undertake an occupation of protected Dovani territory. In a rather poor judgment call, they decided to declare war on Sekowo because of some ill-defined notion about Vascanian territorial claims. The message is:

"Hello there,

We'd like to inform you that as of Jan 2581, your nation is at war with Trigunia, because of its invasion of Vascania (a territory we have garrisoned to aid our allies the Union). Being foreign minister, we thought it was your prerogative to know."

We have two options:
-ignore these poorly substantiated and laughable claims
-muster the powers of Dovani against these pitiable outsiders

We prefer the latter, as it seems that everyone is taking a bite out of Dovani lately, and our territorial security is at risk. New Adelia has neither the right nor the strength to hold its own against the might of the New World.

MessageActually, we have'nt officially ever sent anyone to Vascania, there was legislation a decade ago to claim the island off the caost, but it failed.

We feel that before we do anything with Vascania we should completely secure and take over the illegal settlement of New Adelia (90% under our control right now), to ensure the integrity of Southern Dovani.

OOC:
It is going to be incredibly difficult to actually control a large segment of Vascania since the main party involved would rather not do the RP and currently there is a petition for a real nation to be established there, to continue the RP results form the Hutori civil war.

MessageWe have contacted Lourenne and Talmoria, asking them to expand their colonial holdings into the South, so as to further secure the territorial integrity of Dovani.

Perhaps we should expand as well...just a little

MessageThat would be wise.

Since we essentially control New Adelia (to be the Jamahiriya al Medina), we now have territory that is not contiguous with the rest of the Commonwealth that could otherwise be so.

We suggest colonizing a strip of land (roughly twice as wide as Teoitan) connecting the area with the rest of the commonwealth.

MessageYou will pay for your insolence. Trigunia is not a power which can simply be brushed away. Our military budget is, (as agreed with the DSP) clearly at least twice that of Sekowo, if not more.

As for "zealous and excessively enthusiastic Trigunian party"....that is very laughable. We represent the Trigunian people absolutely, especially considering our majority in the cabinet and the unanimity with which any bills regarding foreign affairs we propose are passed. Our party and Trigunian politics are one and the same thing.

Of course, you have the chance to redeem yourselves. Issue a formal apology (passed with a majority) to our people and we will refrain from turning your colonial empire into our colonial empire.

MessageUgghh, how melodramatic. Next thing Trigunia (err, the TPP) will do is make some overblown manifesto of war and pretend that it has the wherewithal to tackle the half-dozen nations of Dovani at once.

MessageOOC:
Actually, I think that at the most only three of the other Dovanian nations will actually be involved at the most.

Dranland is essentially useless and does'nt seem to care about anything outside of it right now, Hulstria has come out and said they don't care about anything South of Lourenne proper.
Kazulia is a possible, even though we have a defence treaty with them, and they are DfD member-states, the party I negotiated has been gone for quite some time.

Lourenne will most likely get involved, and Talmoria might as well.

MessageOOC:
However, all six Dovani nations signed the Dovani for the Dovanians treaty, and are all therefore obligated to fend off this foreign influence. Even if they will not be actively involved in the RP struggle, we can at least gain the approval of the more quiet Dovani nations for the use of their military.

MessageWe the National Imperial Party of Talmoria are willing to send His Imperial Majesties troops to war in defence of Dovani the only problem is the other parties of the nation are divided on the situation. We have the force to make a large contribution to the defence but whether the Imperial Senate votes for it is another Question.

MessageIt's the result of Dovanian nations having been colonies themselves, they fought for their independencem and they don't want to see any other part of Dovani go through the same processof being take over by foreigners (IE non-Dovanians).

I suppose it's a kind of nationalism, albeit on a grander scale, perhaps akin to Pan-Africanism.

Random fact: It usually takes up to an hour for election results to generate. During this time, the "Next Election" date is put forward a month, which is confusing. Do not worry! In a short time, the election result will generate and the "Next Election" date will then correct itself.

Random quote: "Politics is supposed to be the second oldest profession. I have come to realize that it bears a very close resemblance to the first." Ronald Reagan (1911 - 2004)
