Bill: Telamon Tourism Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Humanic Republicanist Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: July 2583

Description[?]:

Historical sites and museums are up to local government at the moment. The HRP believes that this is a good thing, but we also believe that additional help from the main government is good on occasion too. Recently items (coins, architecture, etc...) from long-lost sections of the ancient site of Mii-Telapoulise have washed up on the beaches around Telapolis. It is currently unknown what dislodged these items, though some researchers believe that recent military activity in Hutori could be the cause. Whatever the cause, the HRP believes that an additional 8 million pounds should be set aside to begin searching and excavating these sunken sections.

MessageIt would seem to us that the Minister of Culture, Leonard Nozick Jr., would be the sole authority necessary to consult on the issue, as he controls the allocation of cultural funding.

MessageUnfortunately, Tourism is often ignored in Telamon. We felt that this was an opportunity to help jumpstart the tourism business in Telamon.

MessageNot a government function, let private enterprise take the risks of investigating these sites (both monetary and safety) and let them reap the rewards. They'll do a better job than any stuffed shirt bureaucrat would anyways.

MessageWere not suggesting that government investigate the sates itself. We're suggesting that the government offers a research grant to any private company that brings a decent amount of the ruins out of the sea.

MessageWe could also see this being an issue for the Environment and Tourism Ministry. Either way, the powers to approve or deny the funding lies in the hands of the respective ministry which the HRP should choose to appeal to on the issue.
