Bill: Alcohol and Tobacco Bill
Details
Submitted by[?]: Conservative Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: June 2584
Description[?]:
Whilst we would not want to interfere with the rights of adults to smoke anddrink, we do not feel that children should be able to do either, and it is irresponsible of the government to not legislate against children buying alcohol and tobacco. If parents purchase alcohol an tobacco for consumption by their children, that is their responsibility, but children should not be able to purchase these products themselves. |

Message | And why should being a child interfere with their liberty of buying and or consuming alcohol or tobacco? If they do not wish to consume, they will not buy. If they wish to do so, they may. |
Date | 10:15:07, May 30, 2008 CET | From | Conservative Party | To | Debating the Alcohol and Tobacco Bill |
Message | Because children should not be able to take such harmful substances. There are strong medical arguments as to why adults should not consume these products in great quantities, and it should be a foregone conclusion that a minor should not be able to consume such products. |
