Bill: Choice for Radio Listeners Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Democratic Centre Party of Gaduridos
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: December 2114
Description[?]:
We propose privatizing the state run radio station, as it eats up government resources that could be better used elsewhere. Also, it unfairly punishes private radio stations which must compete without the vast pockets of the federal government to draw cash from. |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change Radio stations.
Old value:: The government subsidises a national radio station for educational and informational purposes; other private non-subsidised radio stations are allowed.
Current: The government subsidises independent non-profit-making cooperatives for educational and informational purposes; other private non-subsidised radio stations are allowed.
Proposed: All radio stations are private.

Message | We oppose government ownership of media in all forms. While the current ruling coalition would not abuse these outlets, we are not certain that others would do the same. We also agree that nonprofits and other institutions can support this on their own. |

Message | If this bill passes, our party would be willing to take over financial suppot of WBNT, the national radio outlet in Bentara. It is one of my personal favorites when we are in the capitol. |

Message | How about the government owned radio station remains government owned but is run independantly. By making the radio station take a neutral stance politically it can be used for educational purposes only. |

Random fact: By default the head of government is the ultimate authority within a national government. In general terms, heads of government are expected to consult with cabinet colleagues (including those from other parties) before making significant decisions but they remain responsible for government action. |
