Bill: Presidential Powers Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Radical Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: February 2585
Description[?]:
As it is clear, our Constitution defines only the role and status of the President, and not the powers in which he is vested. This needs to be clarified for the further rule of Telamon, and the effective use of the position of President. Many Monarchists feel that the President is an emasculated role, and therefore its powers should be defined. Here is my proposition: i) Executive powers to instate the cabinet. ii) Military precendence, in the declaration of war, with consultation from the Defence Ministry and Armed Forces advisors. iii) A key role in Foreign Affairs, alongside the Foreign Minister. I find these powers codify the role of the President, and place some authority back into the role. Kristian Donson President of the Republic of Telamon |

Message | Remove 3 and 5 and we will agree. |

Message | We echo the statement of the TNP and would also comment that the President already plays a key role in foreign affairs, but only if he so chooses to. Therefore, we would advise that article iv is not necessary. James Lott Chairman Democratic Capitalist Delegation |

Message | "While the president may have precedence when declaring war, few presidents will have the strategic training to use the armed forces to the best of their ability. I think it's better that way, because a president who wields the army well is more like a dictator than a president. I find no problem with the president being theoretically in charge of the armed forces, but such powers being exercised scares me." Borris T. Crantie Minister of Defense |

Message | We disagree deeply. Every time the RP gets a position, they try to improve it. And every time the nation realizes they are just a bunch of power-hungry people, they leave us an enormous amount of legislation, paperwork, laws etc. which need to be straightened. And while they are in the opposition, they try to pass "liberal laws" which demote the same position they tried to upgrade. Bad show. Vojislav Krkljus Chairman of the RRP |

Message | The RRP is a non-party these days anyway. Such slurs can be expected. If the TNP proposed this legislation, I expect the RRP would be lapping it up. I'm just proud that the RP have beaten Vojislav Krkljus out of office every time we have fielded a candidate against him. Kristian Donson President of the Republic of Telamon |

Message | All of this stuff is already either etched into law, or etched into tradition, but I suppose there's no issue with putting it in writing. This resolution looks ready to put to vote. James Lott Chairman Democratic Capitalist Delegation |

Message | We would have never voted for this bill alongside with the TNP because we are both, if not fanatical than standard, pro-monarchist parties. It maybe is so that I was beaten, but I can swear to my Isus that have done more in my two mandates than you have done in your five. Plus, we were wining far more greater political victories when you were still in your "business" of taking money from Telamon's citizens in your mansion thrice the size of our Parliament. And lets not count your support from the LSD and DCD. When we get into the cabinet, our pre-electorial coalition is always a double one. You should change your party's name, really, (spits) Vojislav Krkljus Chairman of RRP |
