Message | We're not in favour of many international treaties that seek to regulate the internal policies of nations, but an internationally recognised ban on slavery seems sensible. |

Message | We don't believe that this agreement is necessary, and will not support it for several reasons. How other countries conduct themselves is none of Hutori's affairs, and we do not believe that we should intervene on behalf of some sort of global conception of human rights. The HCC does not condone slavery, by any means. But we are opposed to most, if not all internationally binding treaties of this form, not simply because they are inefficient and often unenforcable, but also because we believe that human rights are a relative and culturally contingent invention - not a universal truth. We should be more concerned with banning slavery in our own country, if we are concerned about this issue, and we should let other countries take care of their own domestic issues for themselves. It is not our position to impose some sort of 'universal' conception of human rights on countries who may not believe in such things. We do not believe such an abstract set of 'natural rights' exists, and so we do not recognize a need for an imposition of it on a global scale. Let each country resolve their own issues on their own terms and under their own circumstances - we do not believe it is Hutori's obligation or responsibility, nor should it ever be, to intervene in the affairs of other countries by joining internationally binding agreements. We oppose almost any form of global governance, and we thoroughly oppose the globalist, universalist train of thought that has brought about treaties such as this. Hutori needs to look after the affairs of Hutori - not of any other country - Hutori. |

Message | We on the other hand support this treaty for the full 100%. Slavery ought to be banned in the 26th century! |
Date | 19:12:17, May 31, 2008 CET | From | Conservative Union Party | To | Debating the Ratification of the Global Emancipation Treaty |
Message | The CUP will not support this treaty. We are opposed to slavery and we don't need some foreign treaty telling us that. |
