Message | Why would that be? Since when do Libertarians endorse big government? OOC: Speaking as a bit of a radical anarchist (:-p) irl, I am wondering where your opposition to article 2 comes from, especially seeing as how that last "in a political way" bit seems to imply that the best man doesn't get the job, its whoever bribes the top boss the best. |

Message | Local government is still government. As a libertarian, I believe that no government, local or national, should deny law abiding citizens the rights to gamble, marry, not be forced to pray and so on. Your proposals introduce more authoritarianism than already exists. For example, can't you see how "The government allows all consenting adults to marry." is far more libertarian than "Legal marriages are defined by local governments"? What if a local government decides that homosexuals, polygamists zoophiles, and whatever other marital minorities exist should not be allowed to marry? To me, it doesn't matter if it's the local council or the president himself laying down "thou shalt not"s, it's still government intervention in my book. |

Message | Proposal 2 is blatantly opposed to basic notions of freedom of expression, as well. All Rutanian citizens retain the right to partisan association, regardless of whether they are involved in government. We can't expect government workers to have no opinions. |

Message | No, but they must place the citizen's interests above partisan interests. |

Message | Political independance doesn't mean having no opinions, it just means not sucking up to the of the major parties. (article 2 LAP) |

Message | Ah, nevermind, time to appeal to my base. |
Date | not recorded | From | New Democrats of Rutania | To | Debating the Government Reform Act of 2040 |
Message | So if you work in government, you must sacrifice your own rights for "citizen interests"? No. |
