Bill: Adrianopolis Trials

Details

Submitted by[?]: Democratic Socialist Union

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: December 2586

Description[?]:

The Civil War was a brutal affair. Millions died over the question of Republic of Monarchy. In the end, the Confederation of the United People of Hutori, also known as the Confederate Democratic Republic of Athlorcaea, proved victorious over the Union's forces.
The PRCP and DNP hereby press official charges on the HCC and CUP. We accuse them of Crimes against Humanity. They have authorised and executed a massive witch hunt for communists in the nation. They are responsible for the complete and utter destruction of Hutori's major cities save Adrianopolis.

The HCC and CUP have three options:
1. Submit to the authority of this court, which is under the joint jurisdiction of the Confederation and its allies, and accept the inevitable "punishment".
2. Leave Hutori/Athlorcaea for the colonies or another nation.
3. Renounce all claims to restore the monarchy and vow never to restore it.

Every significant party involved in the war shall have its repsentatives in the court according to their aid. In total there are 30 seats, of which 15 go to the Confederation. The others are divided like this:

Democratis Socialists Party (Sekowo): 1
Saiserist League (Zardugal): 3
Social Darwinist Party (Zardugal): 1
Zardugal: 3
Aldegar: 2
Pan-Terran Red Army and the Comintern: 5

Currently, the HCC and CUP are illegal organisations in the eyes of the Confederate government, and they will remain to be so unless they submit to one of those options.

This is a matter solely of the Confederation and the Union. The other parties who were neutral have no part in this, and have no say in it. We would like them to withhold their commentary from the discussion.

MessageI need not remind you that you (HCC and CUP) are in no position to negotiate. Please state the option you choose, or be labeled illegal and be forced to disband.

MessageOur party has never participated in anything illegal. The 'witch hunt' of which the communists speak was government authorised and legitimate. If the communists also speak of the bombings that took part on behalf of the Union, we remind them that the Confederacy, too, sanctioned several bombings.
We do not believe that we are guilty of 'crimes against humanity', or any such nonsense of this sort, and we reject the legitimacy of this trial in full.
However, as we are 'in no position to negotiate', we will wait for the response of the CUP, and then make our decision. We are currently in discussion with the CUP as to the movements of the disbanded Union parties, but we have not reached a conclusion yet.

MessageAnd what, pray tell, is the 'punishment' to be administered to the HCC and CUP for our 'illegal' 'crimes against humanity'?
What are our crimes? Defending this country from the communist plague; the Red infestation, that has consumed Hutori and destroyed everything in its path? Trying to prevent a far-left, communist dictatorship, brought about through acts of unlawful violence, terrorism, and treason against the legitimate government, and against the King? Trying to preserve Hutori's ways of life; its cultural expressions; its values; its national pride; its freedoms, and its liberties, from the impending communist threat, that has always been on the destruction of the afore-mentioned?
It is laughable that the PRCP considers the HCC and CUP 'illegal organizations'. We defended this country in every way that we possibly could from the greatest evil ever to befall man-kind since his creation - communism. We are not illegal organizations, but heroes of the highest order.
This country may have been infested by communism and republicanism, but we fear for the people of Hutori, who will inevitably be forced into submission, every facet of their life controlled by an oppressive communist dictatorship, stripped of their economic rights, their freedoms, any expression of individuality. They will become merely a number on a page; a statistic; a resource for the vile communist government. They will be forced into factories and coal mines; all of their labor contributing to the benefit of the government and not themselves. They will be stripped of property ownership - every expression of their will be consumed by the ever-growing government. They will be enslaved by the machine - the communist government mechanism, enforcing abstract ideals like equality, and redistribution of wealth.
This is not the country we stand for, and it never will be. God save the people of Hutori from this communist epedemic - we apologise to them that we could not prevent it, even in our best efforts. We hope that the real Hutori will live on in the hearts of every citizen of Hutori, even if they keep it to themselves through fear of persecution.

MessageIf I were you, HCC, I would mind your words.
The punishment in question would have to be determined by the judges of the court. I advise you not to be too judgmental of the "red plague".

MessageDetermined by the judges of the court? And how are these judges to be appointed? Surely their appointment would be determined by the communist government, with a blatant bias as to their political inclinations. We can say without a doubt that the judges which the communists appoint for this bizarre trial will be judicial activists, prejudiced against the Unionist parties, and their punishments will therefore be more severe and unfair.
We are certain we have not committed any crimes, but if trying to protect our nation from a violent communist revolution was a 'crime', then we plead guilty.

MessageThe CUP has already made clear several times that they will leave the country for the colonies, or some AAT nation. The CUP has decided for itself.

I advise you to do the same, quickly.

Message"I hereby sentence Gospodin Accused to shut up. Failing that, I sentence him to death. Going through with due process seems something of a waste of time if this is their defense."

MessageWould Judge Vernichoff really consider any defense of the HCC not a 'waste of time', unless it somehow involved absolute submission to the communist government and its constitution?
Judge Vernichoff is clearly prejudiced - he is a judge of the Saiserists; a group who had a vested interest in the victory of the confederation. He has been selected .
Should not judges by impartial observers? Ruling based on logic, their judgements not clouded by any predispositions and biases?
We suggest that this judge, who has told a spokesperson of the HCC to 'shut up' in court, and has threatened him with the death penalty, is not a judge in any true sense at all, but simply a pin-up boy for the communist regime; a communist puppet chosen for this trial for his blatant communist agenda. His behaviour is unbecoming of any true judge, and we thoroughly question Mr. Vernichoff's credibility.
This entire trial is an absolute travesty, and is indicative of the oppressive communist regime's actions to come in the near future. The communists want to stamp out any dissenters, anyone who may prove even the slightest challenge to their iron-fisted communist stranglehold on the nation.
The Saiserist League is merely a party of communist puppets, and Judge Vernichoff is no different.

So what will it be, HCC?

MessageThe HCC has decided, for now, to retreat to Vascania, as the CUP has done. It is unlikely that we will return, as we have several options as to new nations for our party.
We will not take part in this ludicrous trial, and will certainly never submit to a republican, communist constitution, nor will we refuse to ever attempt a resurrection of the monarchy if we were to stay here. And that leaves only the option that we leave the country.
We thoroughly apologise to the people of Hutori, especially our voters, for our abandonement - we pray that they will be safe from the communists and that they vote wisely in future.
