Bill: Military Gender Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Communist Party of Gaduridos
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: June 2116
Description[?]:
The NIU feels that having women serve alongside men is potential risk for the armed forces and the security of Gaduridos. The first issue that comes up is what will happen to women that are captured and taken behind enemy lines. The second issue is that men may actually try to protect the women they are serving with, which has been shown to happen before (with Israel I believe), and thus compromise their mission. Lastly, the men and women serving together may actually develop a relationship. This, of course, would lead to either individual of thinking about the safety of their significant other. Thus, their mind would not be focused on the job at hand, which is quite serious to their comrades safety, along with our nation's. |

Message | I don't agree. Your argument about relationships is a bit thin - you could say the same thing about any workplace. If someone makes it through training and gets to be a front-line solider, they are a professional and could put those feelings aside. The same is true for men trying to protect women. If anything, this is a training issue. |

Message | We feel this proposal will strengthen our armed forces. I don't think it is discrimination. The female units will have the same status as the male units. If a female unit has shown it can complete a task better than a male unit, it will be selected to perform those tasks, rather than the male unit. The DCP's argument concerning any workplaces is rather thin. The men and women in other workplaces do not face death. They do not have to concern themselves with the safety of their unit. If a male soldier sees his partner is facing certain death, he will likely want to die trying to rescue her, possibly to the detriment of his unit. It is difficult for training to overcome this bond of love. |
