Description[?]:
A proposal to change the current Laws pertaining to the granting of citizenship. Laws on nationality would remain the same, and so legislature still requires an earning of the right to become a citizen. Only nationality and citizenship would be considered the same - one comes with the other, after a test. Therefore, in this proposal, Citizenship would be earnt, because Nationality is earnt. |

Message | OOC: When I first came to Malivia anyone could claim nationality, we would take all refugees, there were no citizenship requirements.... IC: Citizenship is earned, not given. |

Message | Citizenship tests for everyone would mean that under current legislature, immigrants would have to pass two tests: one for nationality and one for citizenship. The process would be simpler in the eyes of the Social Democrats if Citizenship was granted to all nationals, and the current law pertaining to nationality, that: Anyone receives nationality but immigrants must pass a test to gain nationality, remained unchanged. It means that a test would have to be sat for any immigrants, but natural born Malivians would not need to pass an exam. This examination would show whether immigrants are willing to integrate into Malivian society, defeating the purpose of the citizenship exam in Malivia Left's argument. |
