Bill: Animal Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: National Labor Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: September 2587

Description[?]:

Whilst we applaud the government's current stance on animal rights, we suggest that the killing of animals within Malivia be outlawed entirely. We also propose that registration of domestic pets be left to the local councils, rather than the national government, as a way of alleviating some of the burdoning beaurocracy in the national government. Furthermore, we propose that it is time for the Malivian government to finally have a stance on whaling, and it is our belief that commercial whaling be legal, but restricted by the government.

MessageThe Social Democrats support Articles one and two, but not article three, and would vote against the whole bill just because of article three.

The Social Democrats are strongly against whaling in any form.

MessageWhilst Malivia Left agrees with the Social Democrat Party on their stance on whaling, we believe that restrictions by the government on whaling numbers would be a significant improvement on the current situation, where no body or institution is paying any attention to it whatsoever. We believe that this bill is more likely to pass through the current parliament if it was not to ban whaling entirely. Malivia Left believes that any improvement on the whaling issue is necessary, and the first two articles make the entire bill worth approving.

MessageIn respose to Malivia Left's explanation of the ideology behind the proposal, the Social Democrats belive that voting yes on this bill would be in its interests, on the condition that progress on the issue will be made in the future.

MessageWe will put this proposal to vote, however if it is unable to pass, we would consider proposing Article Three on its own.
