Message | Why must we cut Trade and Industry, and Infrastructure? Those are the ones that have bumped up th GDP with so much bang for our buck. By cutting them you will actually end up taking money out of people's pockets. |

Message | "Well you've caught me in a bind here. I tried to craft the budget based on percentages. Here's the issue: Cutting Defense is fundamentally not a good idea. All the areas from Infrastructure to Trade all give boosts to the economy by proper expenditue in those areas. The GDP increases with increases in those areas up to a certain point, then the rate of increase falls off. I was trying to use percentages to strike the best possible balance. That's why our GDP jumped 1,000 ZAR for every 550 ZAR in increased expenditure. Finance is a more important area than is readily apparent. Finance is what determines tax collection, so with increases in Finance we collect more from our income taxes, thus reducing our need to raise taxes to make up the difference. There really is no perfect solution. The budget is a vast, complex, interdependent formula, and I personally thought we had it about right under the Second Kalinyev Plan. We cen defer to your judgement." ~Mikhail Kalinyev, Saiserist economics expert |
