Bill: Control of Advertising Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Human Extinction Project
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: December 2588
Description[?]:
Tukarali's monstrous, environment-destroying consumer capitalist economy is driven by the huge sums of money spent on attempts by big business to psychologically manipulate people into buying consumer products they don't really need. If we are to be serious about saving the planet, then we have to make some big changes, and getting rid of the advertising industry would be a good start. I would like to add a clarification to the meaning intended in this Bill: we do not propose to ban *all* advertising. We have no problems, say, with specialist trade journals or the exchange of information about goods and services. What we are targetting is the brash, big-money adverts that dominate television, the radio, newspapers, billboards etc... Professor Horace Werckle (Director of the Human Extinction Project) |
