| Press Release from the Ministry of Defense: With the news that Deltaria is openly dumping toxic waste into Lake Majatra in response to the treaty to establish the lake as a body of water controlled by those nations bordering it. The Foreign Ministry has put this treaty forward for the National Directorate to ratify or not. Naturally, the F.R.P. and Senior Officials within the Federal Government urge all parties to ratify this treaty at once. What I am releasing this statement for is in accordance and the endorsement of Lord Marshall Vortigon and our respectable Director-General Baudelio Miroslav, is to address at once the Deltarians actions. . . In an official release from Senior Ministers within Deltaria, they announced this morning the following: "In a joint statement, the Environment and Science industries have today endorsed the disposal of harmful chemicals into Lake Majatra. Karol Cervenka and Miroslav Repko, in a co-signed statement, said the following: "The dangers of chemical dumping on land are to say the least perhaps existent, and the government feels there is unacceptable risk in such a move. After extensive research and study, we have concluded that the dangers of dumping such chemicals in Lake Majatra are minimal enough to make it a superb site for this purpose. The extensive amounts of water should absorb the chemicals, reducing their toxicity and meaning less danger for all. "The Environment ministry has ordered that all Deltarian industry from today forth dispose of biological, chemical and nuclear waste into the lake, and any who do not do so will face the full force of the law." What does this mean? I think it goes without explanation. The tourism that Ingomu relies on heavily will be devastated. The gorgeous beaches will be covered in dead-fish. Our fishing industry in the Lake will come to a stand-still and worse-yet citizens of our Federation may run the risk of being poisoned. This can not, I repeat can not be tolerated and decisive action is needed. As Minister of Defense with the endorsement of my party and Lord Marshall Vortigon would seek to deploy The Zardugali Naval Forces to put a quarantine around Deltaria to prevent the disposal of these toxins into our shared lake and force them to be reasonable and come to the table of diplomacy. |

| Message | OOC: To all interested http://www.takeforum.com/particracy/viewtopic.php?t=10062&mforum=particracy This thread was started by one of our counterparts in Jelbania and as of this moment the quarantine hasn't been put into effect. This is a grey area at best on the level of a "hostile" act against Deltaria and this is exactly my intent. Those paying heed could view this as much the same as the Cuban Missile Crisis. We're not threatening an embargo or blockade which would clearly be a hostile action. The intent with a quarantine is as I outline in the thread-to force Deltaria to stop. Any such embargo wouldn't stop passenger ships or commodities going into Deltaria but, if the dumping of these toxins was spotted the ship would be hailed and ordered to turn around. The burden of provoking war is upon Deltaria and not Zardugal. |
