Message | We are not so sure. A civilized society has every right to take a stand against murder, which could include capital punishment. |
Date | 16:22:04, June 17, 2008 CET | From | Kommunisticheskiy Komitet Rabochih | To | Debating the No to the Death Sentence |
Message | A civilised society has the right, and the responsibility, to take a stand against murder. Including state sanctioned murder. |
Date | 16:28:27, June 17, 2008 CET | From | Partija Kontr-Revoljucionerov | To | Debating the No to the Death Sentence |
Message | Capital punishment is a legal procedure, not murder. |
Date | 16:47:14, June 17, 2008 CET | From | Kommunisticheskiy Komitet Rabochih | To | Debating the No to the Death Sentence |
Message | Just because it is enshrined in the trappings of legality does not make it any better. |
Date | 17:03:13, June 17, 2008 CET | From | Partija Kontr-Revoljucionerov | To | Debating the No to the Death Sentence |
Message | It means it isn't murder, because there is a fair procedure that is followed to prevent abuse and to ensure that the crime is punished fairly and legitimately, unlike murder which has no fairness or legitimacy. |

Message | We are opposed to the idea of killing another person, full stop. It would appear that the only thing about killing another person that causes you offence is the idea that the person was not killed in the correct way. We also doubt the fairness of the procedure and its accuracy, as shown by countless cases that are successfully appealed each year. Had the button been pressed, appeal would be impossible and an innocent person would be dead. |

Date | 03:17:44, June 18, 2008 CET | From | Family and Tradition Party (disbanded) | To | Debating the No to the Death Sentence |
Message | The death penalty is not only an effective deterrant for potential criminals, but also an appropriate punishment of retribution for capital offences. The only adequate retribution for someone who has taken a life, or ruined lives, is for their life to be taken in return - this, and only this, will ensure that the punishment is proportionate to the crime, and any lesser punishment is simply unequal. Justice always needs to be balanced if society, victims and victim's families are to be properly compensated for the crimes committed against them. Eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth. |

Random fact: "OOC", "IC" and "IG" are commonly-used acronyms in Particracy. "OOC" refers to comments, discussions and actions which are out-of-character, meaning they are done player-to-player rather than party-to-party. "IC" refers to in-character interactions (ie. party-to-party). Similarly, "IG" means in-game, although this term may also simply refer to what happens in the actual game interface, as opposed to on the forum or elsewhere. "RP" just means "role-play". |
