Bill: Anti-Paramilitary Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Radical Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: April 2594

Description[?]:

To ensure the continued prosperity of our great nation, and to uphold the virtues of representative democracy and modern society, all parties must agree to ban the formation of private armies and paramilititaries under party command.

Paramilitaries undermine the sovereignty of Parliament, and leads to partisan feuding, aggression, loss of life and political instability. We have witnessed the fall of Hutori on our doorstep due to partisan activity; we must agree as a Parliament to make protection against a similar occurrence in Telamon.

Jan Rubenstein
Internal Affairs Minister

MessageThis issue has come up before in the recent past, and the debate can be referred to here (http://80.237.164.51/particracy/main/viewbill.php?billid=190374).

However, it should be noted that the DCD no longer officially supports former chairman Lott's position on the issue.

MessageAs my father before me covered; many things can cause harm; we don't ban things simply because they might cause harm, we need evidence that their very existence does cause harm. As we've never had a problem with any paramilitaries here in Telamon it leads me to believe Minister Rubenstein is creating "problems" simply so that she may fix them.

Random fact: Did you know you can change the official name of your nation? All you need to do is draw up a new name that is in accordance with the Nation Renaming Guide, pass a bill proposing the name change with a two-thirds majority and then post a request to Moderation on the "Renaming Requests" thread. You can change city and region names in this way too.

Random quote: “Can anyone imagine a more perverse idea than forcing faithful Hosians like me to give away my money to enable irresponsible teenage girls to kill off their children because they were too drunk to use a damn condom?" - Dr. Francesca dos Santos, former Dranian politician
