MessageThe current system allows for a better choice than the option proposed by the SLP.
Currently those wishing to utilise a private hospital have the ability to do so whilst the public system has shown to provide a comprehensive health care provision at a far lower cost, whilst maintaining service quality, than would be possible by subsidising the private sector. By subsidising the private sector, through the guaranteed provision of vouchers, allows companies to maintain high prices without any guarantees of service provision. Moreover, the idea of competing healthcare centres, and more importantly hospitals which require vast amounts of space and investment to construct and operate, will lower their prices in order to compete has been shown via economic models to be untrue whilst for the same cost the public sector can provide the same service at the same quality for less due to the economic returns through economies of scale.
This bill, though well meaning, will increase costs to the government, thusly the tax payer, whilst not improving quality of service or its availability.

MessageTo the We Say So! party:

The idea is to set up a national agency and monitor at some level what companies offer and provide transparent documentation to citizens so that they can make choices of which insurance agency to go with.

4. Provides and assures that all private insurance providers provide proper coverage in turn for those vouchers.

This point specifically sets up regulations and procedures to acheive that. Hopefully this qualms any fears you may have.

MessageTo the Social Libertarian Party:

Whilst we understand and accept that this bill is being put forward with good feeling we do not believe that introducing this bill will improve health care to the nation, but it will increase costs to the government. Whilst we accept that there is an attempt to introduce regulations into the system, the current system allows for a "best of both worlds" arrangement with the public sector, not reliant on a profit motive, to provide high quality health care at a price that is capable of taking account of economies of scale due to the number of people utilising the system whilst allowing those who wish to fund their own health care from their own pocket should they wish.
This system that you are attempting to invoke would introduce a profit motive into the health care system meaning that a percentage of all government expenditure rather than going on health care provision would have to go to private companies to satisfy their profit motive. This would increase costs of the system as a whole to the government and so increasing taxation of the population to cover the subsidies.
The current system allows the public and the private sector to operate in tandem and provides a much better system of operation whilst also providing greater value for money than the proposed and, as such, we are unable to support this legislation.
