Message | Mr Speaker, This represents an attack on the hardest working families in order to benefit spongers and scum, at their expense. A tithe of 10% on everything is the way we do things in the Holy Empire. |
Date | 01:54:56, June 20, 2008 CET | From | Her Majesty's Loyal Trade Unionists | To | Debating the Wealth Redistribution Act |
Message | Mr Speaker, This is a small step in the right direction. We would like to go further, abolishing the tax on essential goods and raising the tax on luxury goods right up to 50%. People should not be taxed for buying the things they need to survive, but those who can afford to splash out on luxury goods can reasonably be asked to pay a little more. Message | Everyone benefits from an increase of consumption due to lower tax rates. Additionally, rich people buy essential goods too. |

Message | Mr Speaker, The People's Party representative is correct. *Everybody* will benefit from this legislation, rich and poor, but the poor will feel the benefits most because they spend a greater percentage of their income on essential goods than do the rich. Arthur Smith (General Secretary of Her Majesty's Loyal Trade Unionists) |
Date | 19:27:24, June 20, 2008 CET | From | Citizen's League | To | Debating the Wealth Redistribution Act |
Message | We have chosen to abstain. Tax breaks are good, but instead of raising taxes in another area spending should be cut. This bill just swaps one evil for another. |
