Message | Well, there was already a discussion, but our main argument is that the woman can choose to have an abortion in first three months, with six months some children can already be born and survive, so that would obviously be murder, and also, if the mother should be able to decide if she wants that child in first three months... |

Message | We think the first and second trimester is a fair compromise which recognises that significant divisions exist between the parties and amongst the electorate. It is not too restrictive, but equally, it does not allow for abortion at any point - and it should be mentioned that the LCP voted for the current law. The reality is, as we have discussed again and again, that if you make abortions illegal after the first trimester, women in desperate need will get a back street abortion, which could well cost them their lives. In any case, the numbers of women having an abortion after the first trimester is, in fact, tiny. We are not talking about a lot of abortions in this time period, but those women who do get abortions at this point in the pregnancy are likely to be more desperate and more in need of help and support - not forced into facing the possibility of risking their lives. |

Message | But, I ask you, Labour Party, where is the line? Someone has to draw a line. We can equally allow mothers to get rid of their child in, i don't know, first 12 months of their life, if they don't want to have children. And your argument is: if we do not allow this, then it will be performed illegally?? Where is the logic? We can allow then murder of all citizens, because if we prohibit this by law, murders will be performed illegally! Well, of course they would, but the purpose of the law is to stop that. The purpose of the law is also to protect unborn children who cannot protect by themselves. If the mother doesn't want to keep the baby, there are institutions for that, we already have an adoption procedure. But there is no logic in that what you are saying. |
