Bill: The Immigration, Border Security and Amnesty Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Dranland First Party (CC)

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: October 2597

Description[?]:

The Family and Tradition Party believes that, in the interests of Dranland's security, the protection of its rich culture, and the stability of its economy and job markets, it is vitally important that we ensure strong border security, that we allow migrants according to quotas based on their nationality, and that we think of Dranland's interests first when considering refugee policies and amnesty.

Article 1) The FTP believe that strong border control is important in fulfilling this government's responsibility to the people of Dranland - that is, the responsibility of ensuring that their safety is prioritized, first and foremost. In order to ensure this, it is important that criminals, terrorists, and other undesirables are found before they enter our borders. Allowing slack border security is tantamount to a failure of obligation to the citizens of Dranland and their security, which we place far higher in importance than the rights of visitors to undergo non-invasive security checks.

Article 2) The FTP understands that many refugees have no choice but to flee from their countries of origin due to domestic turmoil, but before we can consider welcoming these victims of circumstance, we must first consider how an influx of refugees will affect our country, and whether this would be in Dranland's best interests. Refugees are essentially immigrants who have come to our country, bypassing the legal process of immigration because of their circumstances. However, they will inevitably have difficulty integrating into our culture, adopting our language and our values, and this may be problematic not only for them, but for Dranland's citizens. In order to integrate these refugees, it is generally expensive, and all funding for such integration programs comes from the tax-payer's pockets. In the interests of maintaining a unified culture, of protecting our values and our language, and of saving tax-payers the unnecessary burden of funding special welfare programs for refugees, the Family and Tradition Party believes that we should keep refugee policy to a minimum. We, therefore, propose that only refugees of extreme circumstances be allowed, rather than allowing all refugees on an unconditional basis.

Article 3) Similarly to article 2, we believe that mass immigration can potentially overwhelm Dranland's capacity, and can be destructive to our unified culture, our values, our language, and a burden on our economy, job markets and welfare provisions. In order to prevent unlimited immigration of various ethnic groups, the Family and Tradition Party believes that it is important to limit the amount of immigrants allowed into the country based on a quota for each nationality. This will ensure that we can maintain our culture, without any unwanted multi-culturalism, by ensuring that no ethnic group grows too rapidly in number. Again, we must think of Dranland's interests first, and, as the FTP believe that our culture, language, traditions and values are all worth protecting, we would like to ensure that these elements are maintained as much as possible.
