Message | Clinically depressed or not, why should someone not be allowed to have this choice? Why should people slowly dying of cancer have to "wait it out?" People can be in a state where they know they will die from their illness or condition, and be in constant miserable pain. Why should we force them to feel this pain for possibly years? |

Message | "Why should someone not be allowed to have this choice?" Because it is far too great and important a decision to be made by anyone in that state of mind. In fact, it is a decision that is far too great and important to be made by anyone, in any circumstance, as the very nature of the decision is that the decision-maker will be in an extremely emotional state in such dire circumstances that they are contemplating whether to live or die. This decision is such that it can never be made with sound mind. Human life transcends our normal human jurisdiction - it is an entity that we cannot directly control, but can only prolong. Life is not created by man - why should he have the capacity to take it away? Surely, the freedom to choose can only be so extensive without being completely destructive to individuals and to society - it is no one's right to 'choose' to murder someone else without being charged with murder, nor is it one's right to 'choose' to rape someone if they believe it is the right thing to do. Likewise, it should not be anyone's choice as to whether or not their own or their loved one's life should be prematurely terminated, by direct intervention into the most natural process on the face of this planet - the cycle of life. The Family and Tradition Party thoroughly supports the measures proposed in this legislation. We favour palliative care for terminally ill patients, so that they may live out the rest of their lives naturally, in a comfortable environment, and with dignity. |

Random fact: "OOC", "IC" and "IG" are commonly-used acronyms in Particracy. "OOC" refers to comments, discussions and actions which are out-of-character, meaning they are done player-to-player rather than party-to-party. "IC" refers to in-character interactions (ie. party-to-party). Similarly, "IG" means in-game, although this term may also simply refer to what happens in the actual game interface, as opposed to on the forum or elsewhere. "RP" just means "role-play". |
