MessageThe State already operates a space agency which contracts and oversees private operations, why is there a requirement to nationalise the private agencies when the two groups work so well together and at a lower overall cost to the taxpayer?

MessageWe don't think there is any evidence of them working 'so well together' and at a 'lower cost to the taxpayer'. That is capitalist wish-thinking. Space exploration should be carried out by society: by the state, in order to benefit the society. Private companies only introduce private interests, which result in society's interests being hurt.

MessageWhich is why those companies are regulated with exploration overseen by the public agency.
The lower cost comes into force due to the ability of the private companies to research new technology in tandem with the public agency so reducing costs for both the government (nee: the taxpayer) and to the private company whilst there operations in tandem reap benefits for both the private company and society as a whole through the public sector. The current position allows for the best of both worlds stopping space being opened to the risks of unfettered capitalism whilst controlling expenditure from the public sector allowing money to be spent in areas that are more pressing to societies needs.

MessageWe would prefer a space agency that is nationalized but regularly cooperates with private companies. Surprisingly moderate of us, eh?
