MessageThis would mean establishing a huge national bureaucracy to licence food vendors. Is it really necessary? Surely local governments can deal with it adequately.

Messagefood is bought at your local shop, thus the local governments can handle the problem.
If there is a problem with your local grocer, should our citizens need to go to their assemby member or their local official?

MessageWhen it comes to buying and selling of foodstuffs, we believe there should be a national standard, in the interests of the health of the nation at large, and to avoid confusion from people who are not used to different local standards.

As a note, most nations... most developed nations anyway... have similiar laws mandating regulation of food be done at the national level...because it is in the interest of public health and safety.

Messageso local governments would if the federal government not step in allow their citizens to get sick and die from food poisoning? I don't think so.

MessageThat is two separate issues, totally unrelated, and this bill changes nothing on who manages the hospitals.

All it is, is who mandates regulation of food bought and sold, and we believe it is in the best interest to have consistency across one nation, than different laws confusing to consumers in different localities.

Messageyour party stated that it is a matter of health that we need this program, thus the implication that local governments do not care about the health of those it represents. We do not believe that an elected official with such disregard could remain in office long or even get elected in the first place.

MessageWe believe if the PP looked around the world, it might be surprised at how elected officials who disregard the health implications continue to get re-elected.

Local governments should have guidance from the national level, and as pointed out earlier.. which strangely had not been addressed... most developed nations have the manufacture and sale of food regulated at the national level.

Why? Because when people eat, they want to know that the same food has the same safe regulations when they travel from one locality to another.
