Bill: AFFS 026.2598 International Media Deregulation
Details
Submitted by[?]: Anti-Federalists of Free Sekowo
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: June 2599
Description[?]:
Were we to require that only truth be published on foreign media... Well, it wouldn't work. They might lie. However, it is better to combat the lies with the truth, and for the public to know what is known abroad. It is very important for our citizens to understand what citizens of other countries are being taught is true, so that we may be able to talk with them, and increase understanding, rather than rushing blindly to war. |

Message | If international media content contains child pornography and beastiality, including rape of both categories, we would never want to be a part of that being on our country's airwaves. We are against. ((OOC: Yes, like I said elsewhere, I have a very pessimistic viewpoint. Plan for the worst, eh?)) |

Message | IMF: I was under the impression, from reading the options, that it referred to news broadcasts, and if only 'truth' is allowed on television, well, simply put, we won't have access to many foreign stations. |

Message | OOC: Oh, and for the record, if it is regulating what can be seen... There's no need for regulation. Check the laws. |

Message | OOC: SIP, bestiality probably is'nt a good example to use. Technically the legality of bestiality is decided by local governments, so while it's most likely illegal in say Lyore and Undarro, it's legal but regulated in say Hasowar and Shiratoku. |

Message | Also oppose. Foreign media should be subject to the same scrutiny as local media. |

Message | OOC: Oh. Well, let's just say SIP doesn't agree with beastiality then. :P I know I sure don't... |

Random quote: "Capitalism demands the best of every man- his rationality- and rewards him accordingly. It leaves every man free to choose the work he likes, to specialize in it, to trade his product for the products of others, and to go as far on the road of achievement as his ability and ambition will carry him." - Ayn Rand |
