Bill: Anarch Anakrousite Reform Bill - Anti-Fascist Action
Details
Submitted by[?]: Commonwealth Workers Army
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: July 2117
Description[?]:
The Anarch Anakrousite Party intends to usher in an alternative to some of the more totalitarian legislation currently being offered to the Likatonian government: In opposition to a total ban on charter schools, the AAP suggests that Charter Schools be non-profit, but otherwise, allowed. Private institutions using public funds should not be allowed to do so for profit, but they DO add to the variety of education options. In opposition to partial or total curfew scenarios (such as the one currently offered by the CNP), the AAP suggests a no-curfew policy. The AAP believes such legislation should be decided WHEN NEEDED, rather than introducing 'in advance' justification. We believe the default should be as permissive as possible. The AAP believes that, if private groups can set up gated communities, it is only fair that the public good be allowed to do the same. The AAP believes that anyone who lives in Likatonia, should be able to claim Likatonian nationality. If they work in Likatonian industry, attend Likatonian schools, pay Likatonian taxes - the AAP believes they should be allowed to call themselves Likatonians. THIS IS NOT CITIZENSHIP. In opposition to current legislation which would impose ridiculously rigourous entry requirements at border-crossings, the AAP believes a sensible level of fairly non-invasive controls should be used - but still enough to weed out KNOWN criminal elements. |

Message | We are in favour of these proposals, except article 3. While we consider that the private sector should be free to do as it pleases as far as property development is concerned, we do not feel that the government should support gated comunities directly, as they are a way of creating elitist environments and ghettoising poorer areas. |

Message | We wish our friends in the AAP would not push their bills to the vote quite so quickly. |

Message | It is no longer at vote. The AAP never actually expected this bill to pass (or fail) before the deadline. Regarding the LPE concern: not all gated communities must be havens of the 'elite'. It is entirely possible (especially in the case of governmentally owned groups) to set up equitable gated communities. OOC: Sheffield has such communities in the city. |

Message | We would happily support this, except for article 2. We do not think hoodlums should have the oppotunity to create havoc at night, and abuse their local community. Therefore will would have to vote against this otherwise excellent bill. |
Date | 03:57:17, September 27, 2005 CET | From | Commonwealth Workers Army | To | Debating the Anarch Anakrousite Reform Bill - Anti-Fascist Action |
Message | Again, we have to ask the Conservative party... since the activities you outline are illegal in and of themselves, in what way does making being outside your house illegal, actually help? |

Message | Article 2 removed to satisfy the Conservative Party. Moving the Bill to vote, amended. |
