Bill: Income tax proposal of November 2600
Details
Submitted by[?]: National Movement for Civic Democracy
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This bill proposes to change income taxes. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: July 2601
Description[?]:
The Spenocratic Party propose to adjust the government's income tax policy to better address the economic situation of the Respublica Dranii. As you can see, the old system barely takes in any revenue. We propose that we have enough money to support a strong military and other basic needs. If this passes, I will propose a spending bill. As a conservative party, many of the other parties may be asking, "why do you want to raise taxes, youre conservative". My answer to that is, "Yes, we are conservative. Christian conservatives at that. We believe in the same taxation that the bible tells us about." This is still a VERY low tax rate, one of the lowest in Terra. It is just enough to actually keep the nation together. We also propose a drop in the sales tax. |

Message | Lightening consumption taxes while increasing income & corporation taxes is a very foolish policy to adopt. |

Message | This does not lighten all consumption tax - just on luxury goods. We agree that the balance should be more towards consumption taxes rather than income taxes, but a flat-rate income tax of 10% hardly seems unreasonable, nor does a corporation tax of 10%. Perhaps these tax brackets may need tweaking in future - for example, we would probably opt for a higher general sales tax and higher excise taxes, with lower flat-rate income tax, but for now this is still perfectly acceptable. |
