Description[?]:

This is the first sub-article in a series of legislations under the name 'Dranland First Act'. The legislations are aptly named because they put Dranland first, and assigns the utmost importance to Dranland's people, its safety, its culture, and its sovereignity.

This particular legislation deals with issues of foreign affairs, namely extradition, and also with immigration and refugees. A brief discription of the reasons for each article in this legislation is below:

Article 1) 'The law does not limit the power of governments to pursue extradition treaties' - the Reform Party believes that national sovereignity is the most important concept in all matters of foreign affairs, and as such, we respect the total sovereignity of other countries as we want them to respect Dranlands. Accordingly, every nation should have full power to determine how they deal with criminals from their country, without other countries interfering in their domestic affairs merely because they disagree with them. Far be it from us to impose our own nation's beliefs on other countries by witholding criminals from them, merely because they practice capital punishment or other forms of punishment we may disagree with. In fact, the Reform Party supports the death penalty completely, but even if we did not, we would not presume moral superiority to the country in question when considering whether to extradite their criminal - the fact of the matter is that the criminal in question is a citizen of that country, which makes them their responsibility and no one elses. We should not infringe on their sovereignity by witholding their criminals for any reason.

Article 2) 'There are quotas based on nationality to determine how many foreigners may reside permenantly in this nation' - The Reform Party believes strongly that our national culture is something worth protecting, as it is a product of our own particular heritage and history, and forms the face and image of our nation. Culture is something that unites people and encourages kinship. The Reform Party believes that, in order for our national culture to be protected and preserved as it should, it is important to determine quotas for immigration based on the nationality of the immigrants in question. This will ensure that no foreign culture will become too predominant in our country, and so the phenomenon of multiculturalism will be resisted, and immigrants will be more easily integrated into our ways of life, our values, and our own culture. We do not want our great nation to be overwhelmed beyond her capacity.

Article 3) 'Only refugees that are victims of extreme circumstances are welcome; no aid is given to them' - The Reform Party always puts Dranland first, and this is why we want to limit the intake of refugees into the country, and the aid that is given to them. We certainly recognize that alot of refugees are very unfortunate, and that they cannot help their circumstances, but again, we must think of our own people's interests before the interests of others. The fact of the matter is that refugees, in large intakes, place an unfair burden on the welfare systems, job-markets, economy, criminal justice system, and tax-payers of Dranland. Because they are highly unlikely to be able to be employed in Dranland, they will inevitably become reliant on welfare, which puts an unnecessary strain on our budgets, and also on our tax-payers, who deserve to have their money put towards their own interests - not the interests of others who have come here for reasons they have nothing to do with. Refugees may also be more likely to turn to petty crime, as many of them struggle to integrate, and they may form violent gangs or racial enclaves, as is often the case. In general, they will also place a burden on our economy. It is for these reasons that the Reform Party proposes that we limit the intake of refugees into Dranland to include only those who are victims of extreme circumstances - it is not the obligation of this country or its peopleo take on and financially assist foreigners in their plights. Dranland's only obligation is to itself and its people.

MessageWe are not quite sure what the meaning of extreme circumstances is. We believe that if a refugees life is at risk in their current situation we should allow them in. We will vote yes, however.

MessageWell for the purposes of this legislation, 'extreme circumstances' would mean that their lives are at immediate risk.

Random quote: "I worked at a factory owned by Germans, at coal pits owned by Frenchmen, and at a chemical plant owned by Belgians. There I discovered something about capitalists. They are all alike, whatever the nationality. All they wanted from me was the most work for the least money that kept me alive. So I became a communist." - Nikita Khrushchev
