Message | In regards to article 1, we prefer the status quo, as we believe this is a matter for local governments to determine. As for article 2, we would again like to see this dealt with on a local basis. Whilst we certainly agree that drug use should be banned and that tobacco should be restricted, we do not believe that law should be made on a federal level for these problems, and so we must unfortunately vote against this legislation. |
Date | 03:43:51, July 15, 2008 CET | From | Party | To | Debating the Substance Act |
Message | We oppose this bill on the same grounds as the Reform party does. We are strongly against drug use and tobacco. But we do not believe the federal government should be allowed to enforce laws concerning them. It should be left to local governments to decide. |
Date | 02:40:16, July 16, 2008 CET | From | Progress and Liberty Party | To | Debating the Substance Act |
Message | We oppose this bill, both on the grounds of it unnecessarily encroaching civil liberties, and transferring power from local governments to the central government. |
