Bill: Dranland First Act - Entangling Foreign Alliances
Details
Submitted by[?]: Dranland First Party (CC)
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This bill proposes the withdrawal from a treaty. It will require half of the legislature to vote in favor[?]. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: October 2606
Description[?]:
This is the second sub-legislation in a series of legislation called the 'Dranland First Act'. This paticular legislation concerns Dranland's participation in international treaties and alliances. The Reform Party believes that, as a fundamental and crucial element of sovereignity and autonomy, our nation should try to remain neutral in foreign affairs, and should not involve and entangle itself in international alliances that may obligate us to assist other countries in their own problems that do not necessarily involve us. NATO is an organization that does just that - it obligates each member nation to assist in the mutual protection and safety of each other member nation. The Reform Party does not feel that it is in our national interest to be a party to this agreement, as it may require us, in future, to involve ourselves in international disputes that are none of our business and none of our concern. This agreement is limiting to our own sovereignity and autonomy, and we believe that we should withdraw from it immediately. We should not involve ourselves in entangling alliances that may unnecessarily put our own country at risk, or put a burden on our military for reasons that are not in our own national interests. |
