Message | This is ridiculous. We are a free country, and freedom must include the freedom to dissent. The national flag must remain a symbol of our nation; how can it serve as a symbol of our nation when we put it above any sort of criticism or reproach? |
Date | 19:10:54, July 16, 2008 CET | From | Movement for Democratic Change | To | Debating the Flag Protection Act |
Message | Dissent is one thing, desecration and disrespect is another. I highly doubt those who died so that flag could represent our country would disagree. |

Message | I very much believe they would do so. The men who died for our flag died to protect our freedoms and our liberties as a people against the menaces of fascism and authoritarianism. Such men fought the fascist threat; they died so that we may have the freedom to dissent, the freedom to express ourselves and our views. Liberal Progressives counted many such men among our number. We have no doubt they would disagree with this ultra-nationalist nonsense. |

Message | So in the LPP's view, the flag is just a piece of cloth? We respecfully disagree. |

Message | The flag is a symbol of Kirlawa, but it is not some sort of deity. Like any symbol, it should be open to criticism. |
Date | 22:12:16, July 16, 2008 CET | From | Kirlawan National Party (Leftists) | To | Debating the Flag Protection Act |
Message | Fascism at its very worst, we shall stand up for the right of the people of Kirlawa to express themeselves and not have to worship our flag. |

Message | We agree with the MDC and AFP. |
