Bill: Sexual Education Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Dranland First Party (CC)

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: November 2607

Description[?]:

The Reform Party believes that education in private matters, namely sexual relations, should be the sole responsibility of parents and family.
Schools have no business in teaching children about such personal issues, particularly considering that many parents may want their children to be educated in these issues in a certain way or at a different age to the age at which it is taught in schools.
Schools should equip children with the essential knowledge required to pursue a career, but their duty falls short of raising other people's children according to the federal government's perception of what constitutes appropriate sexual education.
Furthermore, impressionable children usually lack the maturity and responsibility to understand sexual intercourse, and may only be inclined to experiment at an innappropriate age. Contrary to what many believe, sexual education at young ages does not 'dispell the mystery surrounding sex' - rather, it merely exposes children to sexual intercourse at an age where they do not have the maturity to accept it.
Parents should have full dominion in raising their children at an age that they feel is approprite, and in a way that is consistent with their morals and values - sexual education has no place in schools.
