Bill: Energy Generation Proposal. Article 2: Consumer Supply

Details

Submitted by[?]: We Say So! Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: July 2609

Description[?]:

In order to guarantee the production of power within the Country, but also to allow the advantages of the Private Sector when providing the final product to the consumer, the Government will own and operate the primary source of energy production whilst allowing Private Industry to operate the service to the consumer.
This guarantees that the infrastructure is kept under Government control whilst also guaranteeing that the costs of producing electricity for the National Grid is kept to a minimum.
The energy bought from the National Grid will be purchased by Private Companies which will be allowed to compete with each other to provide the highest possible service provision to the consumer. To this end, there will be limited regulation on the maximum costs, so as not to make power a utility that is only available for the select few, but within the guidelines, competition is free and open.

MessageWe admit to being confused by the position of the SLP in this matter. They vote against nationalising the National Grid, and yet vote against the privatisation of energy companies.
