Bill: National ID Bill of 2610

Details

Submitted by[?]: Green Party of Aldegar

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: October 2610

Description[?]:

The current legislation that citizens are offered ID cards on a voluntary basis is an extremely strange notion that is desperately trying to balance between state control and personal freedom. The ID card system is meant to enable the state to keep record of ALL citizens to be able to give them their rights and obtain from them their responsibilities. Nevertheless, the system that is currently in force in Aldegar is ambiguous, in the way that it only enables those who want to be enabled, and give those who want to be given, and obtain from those who want to give.
The system is odious, extremely wasteful of money, and a gross infringement of the notion of personal freedom. This bill will legislate the complete abolition of the National Identity Card.

Random quote: Although I understand and respect the intentions behind the gesture, this is not something that is universally understood or appreciated, and it tends to give out a negative impression of our party. ~ Anton Weinreich, General Secretary of the Dorvish Communist Party, pleading with his members to stop burning the national flag
