Message | taking a page out of Stalin's book? religion, in particular its pacifist manifestation, has historically constituted the main motivating force behind much of human progress. there was nothing secular about the abolitionist movement, nor Gandhi's Satyagraha, nor Dr. King's black rights movement. The entire modern civil rights movement is a direct descendant of the historic movements founded by pacifists - the Quakers and Anabaptists in the west and the Jains and Lingayats in the east. secularism stood by with "scientific" reasons why non-whites and women were inferior, and has been as quick to serve tyranny as equality all it's days. religion, like every existing ideology, has been abused. we won't deny that, but ultimately it has done more for the advancement of humanity than it has harmed. you cannot *ban* group-think. you cannot have a government without ideology. the only thing accomplished by outlawing religion is a more firm domination of the populace, a more brutal conformity. this is not about progress, intellectualism, scientific rigor, or morality - this is about cheap fear-mongering, an outright terror of dissent, a cowardly loathing of the more subtle expressions of the human condition. an enforced secularist state is absolutely as degenerate as a theocracy. Al'Badara deserves better. |

Message | No man should have his right to organize and believe as he wishes infringed upon simply because you have a problem with it. The state's role is to protect and aid it citizenry not inhibit them. |

Message | We support the sentiment behind this bill but in practice 'the-grass-is-always-greener' effect comes into play. If all of our other legislation is brought up to a fair standard for the non-believers then perhaps the best way for us to kill off the remaining evils of religion would be not to engage them in this area of legislation? |

Message | PC: abolitionist movement: What was religious about it? Everyone was religious back then. Dr. King's black rights movement: " - " civil rights movement: " - " you cannot have a government without ideology: Religion is just one of many possible ideologies possible to embrase, and the least reasonable. absolutely as degenerate as a theocracy: Except the first is free from senseless rules. The second relies on ignorance and the arrogance of the preachers. The first is absolutely less degenerate. |

Random quote: "Anarchy is the true nature of all things. Monarchy, democracy, communism, all useless forms to control the human mind. But a mind cannot be controlled. It cannot be restrained. It has no boundaries. It has its will. Anarchy is the true nature of all things." - Alex Battig |
