Bill: Budget proposal of December 2610

Details

Submitted by[?]: Berosian Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill proposes to change the allocation of funds in the budget. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline.

Voting deadline: August 2611

Description[?]:

Our government is in a hefty deficit, due mostly to increased spending. The Berosian party proposes a severe cut in government spending, mostly in the three areas that take up nearly 94% of our entire budget: Health and Social Services, Education and Culture, and Defense. While the Berosian party cringes at the thought of denying our fighting men and women more funding, we feel it must be done.

MessageThose 3 areas are the places we wish to see spending. For now, we will abstain. We would rather to see spending taken away in areas like industry.

MessageThe RTP shares the feelings of The Spenocratic Party. We wish to see an increase in funding to education, and a smaller decrease in the other proposed areas. We would also like to see a decrease in Industry. We shall also abstain for the time being.

MessageWhile the Berosian party recognizes that decreases in other areas may or may not be more beneficial, their current budget, even if eliminated, would not cover the deficit we are currently in. As hard as it may be, we must cut back in the areas that we are spending most.

Even if we completely eliminated the budgets from all sectors except the three with the most cutbacks in this proposal, we would still be spending 390,000,000,000 LIK; still almost double what we are taking in. We must cut back on these areas.

MessageThe Spenocrats believe that the real answer is to find the method of tax that will raise revenue and keep the economy healthy. We believe that this can be found within a flat tax. If the flat tax proposal of the Income Tax Bill were to pass, we would have sufficient revenue to fund the health and education programs of the nation, we would have the funds to pay for a world class military, we would have the funds to pay for infrastructure. We do not need a big government system riddled with many tax codes to do this. We need one simple flat tax and good spending habits.
