Bill: Economic Reform (2613)

Details

Submitted by[?]: Normand Pluralist Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: May 2614

Description[?]:

We believe that Sekowo's economy should be reasonable in all things:

There is no need for the government to control multiple banks. One should suffice.

Setting minimum wage to luxury levels gives people little incentive to work hard and is disasterous to the economy, as any sort of human labour, even for very menial tasks, can be prohibitively expensive, thus driving up the costs of all goods. The proposed measure would still provide workers with quite comfortable wages (enough to support a family without requiring a spouse to work) without being quite so luxurious.

Other issues are the sorts of things which should depend on local working conditions, local values, and historical issues which may need to be addressed.
