Bill: Self-Defense Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Liberty Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: April 2617

Description[?]:

A high school shooting in the Tribal Territory of Shrin Kali in the United Tribes of Tukarali has shocked people all over the world. 14 students were shot by a frustrated student, 6 more were wounded before he took his own life. School spokesperson Leo Williams said that the community was horrified and that "it would take years to recover from this tragedy".

Article 1: Title

This Act shall be known as the Self-Defense Act (henceforth known as the SDA)

Article 2: Purpose

section 1: Despite the current law, a high school student got his hands on a gun and killed 14 people with it while wounding 6 others. This is why we need to allow the people of this country to have firearms. There is an inherent right to defending one's self and we must respect it. We pride ourselves on our freedom but what freedom is there if we do not allow our citizens to own guns?
section 2: This will allow all adults to own a gun provided they meet the strict conditions. They are:
a) must pass a test with a score of 80% or better on gun safety
b) pass a criminal background check.
c) pass a mental health check.
d) have a place to store it but easily reachable for self defense
e) must be over the age of 18

MessageSo you freely admit that a person carrying a gun went and killed a number of innocent people, and you somehow think that the public having more guns is going to improve things? You honestly believe that?

Do you think the students in that college should have been armed? Perhaps then the frustrated student and the other students could've had a firefight in the school. Yes, that would've been a much better solution clearly.

MessageMaybe you should read the law books more often Judicial Union. The person was not professionally required to own a gun and his parents are not professionally required to own a gun either but somehow he got his hands on one anyway showing you and people who support your opinion on this issue that you cannot keep guns from entering.

Now on to your questions.

1) Yes
2) They are under age so that answer is obvious.

MessageYou cannot prevent any crimes from happening, since all people have free will. The most you can hope to do is reduce how often it happens. How this student got a gun is unknown, but since there are still guns around (namely for those whose jobs require them) there is still some entering the market.

If we allow anyone to own a gun, that is just going to make guns more widely available. Things like this will happen more and more.

MessageOr they will go down for no one will go after someone if they think he or she has a gun.

MessageThe student here ended up killing themselves. They clearly did not wish to live and were going to take as many people with them as possible. This same thing would have happened.

Indeed most murders are not random. They occur by someone known to the victim. The killer would know whether they have a gun or not.

MessageActually most murders are done by total strangers over something trivial.
