Bill: Budget proposal of July 2613

Details

Submitted by[?]: The Liberal Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill proposes to change the allocation of funds in the budget. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline.

Voting deadline: April 2614

Description[?]:

The Defense Budget has been increased by 3 billion LOD in order to pay for the Second defense Contract. According to the last estimates we have, around 100 billion LOD is still owed by the government to the corporation building the weapons (All the remainder of the weapons will be ready in the next five years).

The Science and Technology Budget has received an increase of 2 billion LOD in order to encourage, through more funding, science reasearch, especially towards Defense and new telecommunications technology.

MessageThe Second Defense Contract (Army Contract) was given out in 2599 for 310 billion LOD. The weapons are almost ready, so we start increasing our payments.

MessageRight, so huge spending projects started by your party are now being distributed to this government, manifesting themselves in incessant defense spending increases. How much more will they be going up in the future exactly?

MessageLRNP, Please don't say things you don't know about. That contract passed with a supermajority. Memebers f the current government voted for it. The corporation met their part of the deal, we need to meet ours, and that is to pay for what we received. We will propose budget increases as long as we see them to be necessary. The future does not matter now, what matters is the present. The quicker we pay the debt, the less time and money we will have spend in the future in Defense.

And the Defense Contracts have made our military one of the strongest, equipment-wise, in the world.

MessageI know plenty about your pet project. they do in fact have records in this legislature so I can look up who proposed and voted on what issue. Furthermore, since you proposed this I think it is your responsibility.

We all want defense, but i'm not prepared to write you, as a FORMER government and current opposition a blank check to cover the absurd expenses you accumulated in order to build up our armed forces. The necessity is not to increase defense spending at this time; if anything it is to cut it. I will not vote to send another dollar to military contractors.

MessageWell, the government still has to pay between 7-10 billion LOD each year to cover that debt.
