Bill: Military Reform, January 2614
Details
Submitted by[?]: Goldstein Corporation
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This bill proposes to change the allocation of funds in the budget. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline.
Voting deadline: September 2614
Description[?]:
[OOC] We had an extra 331 billion BLD in surplus to spend. Big-G has recently established the Vanuku as the real-life equivalent of the USD. With our current budget, that amounts to us having a military budget of $40.635 billion. The Rildanor Accords states we can have a maximum of 1,198,577 active troops and 449,466 in reserve. This averages out to about $24,656.51 per troop (about the spending level of China). So, I wish to define an exact number of troops and budget. The proposed budget is the equivalent to $424.926 billion, and an incredible $1 million per troop (for reference, the United States spends only $300,000 per troop and spends the most in the world). I will bring up the division of these troops (i.e into army, air force, space force, navy, etc.) later. [IC] »We need to raise the military budget and set exact troop levels. We need to organize. Furthermore, we need a military that is state of the art. We need the best training, the best equipment, and the best weapons technology of any military on the planet. Sure, this might result in a smaller military than most nations, but our military will be so effective and powerful that it will carve through armies composed of millions like butter. We would be truly indefeatable.« ~Natasha Goldstein (Goldstein Corporation) BE IT ENACTED by the Senate of the Republica Baltusia, let it be resolved that: 1) There be a troop level set to exactly 309,037 troops active and 231,778 reserves. 2) The defense budget be set to 366 billion BLD. 3) The reserves shall receive one half of the funding per troop as the active forces. |
