Bill: Weapons of Mass Destruction

Details

Submitted by[?]: Free Peoples Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: November 2629

Description[?]:

It is very important that we have a strong military, without this we have no way of defending ourselves or of helping smaller nations when they are threatened by more dominant nations.

In short it is all about the security of the people of our great republic, we do not want to make war, we only wish to be ready to defend ourselves if it should break out.

MessageWhile it may seem that my party are simply warmongers it is far from the truth. We are trying to re-arm the Republic, but have no intention of using these arms pro-actively. The manufacture and storage of chemical, biological and nuclear weapons is not a crime, these forementioned weapons would only be used in dire circumstances (such as when we are being invaded).

We do not want to make war, we only wish to be ready to defend ourselves if it should break out.

MessageThis is clearly not the truth. the Liberals have consitantly opposed legislation which would limit our use of WMD's on civilians, proposed laws which condone torture, and pressed for legislation to allow our intellegence agencies to conduct illegal clandestine warfare.

The Christian League believes that Lodska's military does indeed need to be strengthened, but we will not allow this to happen at the expense of Lodska's commitment to humanity and morally justifiable actions in warfare. The new direction of the Christian League makes us more receptive to these proposals, but we worry very much about Article 3. If we have assurances that nuclear arms will not be used on civilians, we will support this bill, but in the meantime we cannot.
