Bill: Singing the National Anthem in Schools
Details
Submitted by[?]: Kristen Socialdemokratisk Partiet
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: November 2630
Description[?]:
It is unfair to force children to sing our national anthem. That is giving them no freedom of speech! This needs to be changed to, "children are not made to sing the national anthem." That way, our countries children have the right to voice their opinions during the National Anthem. They will have the freedom to be quet and respect it, sing along, or stare down at the floor. It is unfair to force people to be patriotic, so this will give them more freedom of speech. In addition, children from other countries who are going to school here should not be forced to sing our national anthem. |

Message | You need to add a proposal to the bill for it to work, but we don't plan on supporting it anyway. =P |

Message | There are plenty of people in this world who don't like to be patriotic. Besides, we may have foreign students in our country who do not want to sing our national anthem. Now, it never said you couldn't sing the national anthem, so those that still want to may sing it. Those who want to patriotic can be patriotic. those who do not want to be patriotic can not be patriotic. |

Message | We need to respect the rights of people, instead of forcing them to give our nation respect. If we, as a nation respect them and their rights, they will respect our nation and us back. |

Message | Also, Mitten Partiet put up a new one with "standing in respect for the national anthem at the commencement of school every day." |

Message | I don't think children should ever be forced to sing the anthem, special occasion or not. Seeing as this one's not going to pass, I will support the bill where children have to show respect during the anthem. |

Message | It is like a book I am reading about this 1 issue, "Nothing but the Truth." In it, a kid is forced to stand with respect, like the rest of his school, for the National anthem of the U.S.A. at the beginning of school each day, but he argues that his freedom of speech overrides that, so he hums along everyday until he makes his point across. |

Message | Think about it. Patriotic people would be able to still sing along even if they weren't required to. It is not a requirement to sing along, but rather a choice. It will not be risking any lives or what not by removing a requirement to be patriotic at schools. Forcing people to sing is just not right! |
